A New Treatment for Snoring

Coblation Assisted Uvulopalatoplasty is a new surgical treatment for snoring. Patients with a history of snoring will undergo investigation with an up to date diagnostic system (the apnea graph).

This diagnostic system allows accurate localisation of the site of snoring (the palate and uvula, the base of the tongue etc). After identifying the site of snoring the patient will undergo surgery using a special radiofrequency wand (coblation). This procedure can be carried out under local anaesthesia in most patients. The procedure causes less pain that other surgical interventions such as laser.
